Planetside 2 art info coming out this week

Today Sony announced they will be having some info come out this week mainly focused on the art direction of SOE's next MMOFPS Planetside 2(check out the incredibly short trailer)
The latest news on PlanetSide 2 art will be given by Senior Art Director Tramell Isaac, who was also the art director for the original Planetside.

What was Planetside?
I'll have to refer you to the two videos below as words will fail me at how fun and awesome the game was. Remember planetside has No NPCs, every name on the screen is a live person playing in the battle, every tank, plane, and big freaking robot are all people, some with multi people (pilot and gunners, or transport)

**Keep in mind when looking at the graphics the game came out in 2003!** But game play knows know age.

Video one: The fan made we are awesome kinda video

Video two: A time lapse of a single base among hundreds in a persistent open world.

LoL: Dominion is out of beta

Joystiq has just released an article saying that League of Legends's latest update "Dominion" is out of beta and ready for prime-time.

I recently decided to relent and check out the LoL phenomenon and I have to say that there is definitely something to it. I am not much on microtransactions myself (something internal has not yet aligned itself for me to pay for small tidbits of things I want instead of purchasing the game outright) but the game is forgiving to folks like me not ready to adapt into the new models.

I have gotten into 5 or 6 games myself and the learning curve is not too steep - the real challenge you learn is staying ahead of the curve for levels and finding team mates who are willing/able to play with a common goal. Community is the real challenge in a game like this and I found one game where one of the two other team mates on my squad was content to type incessantly about what n00bs everyone else was rather than play the game and try to advance the cause...

Dominion brings in a new game mode that changes the standard capture the flag model into a capture and hold type of setup. I am interested to check it out this week and will report back!

Rage Will Be 3 Disks On Xbox 360!

I just read over at Kotaku that the upcoming id title Rage will require 3 disks for the Xbox 360 version. Now, I'm sure that some Xbox fanboys will try to say that the mandatory 8 GB install on PS3 is just as bad if not worse...but come on.  If Microsoft wants to be taken seriously next generation, they're going to have to sack up and install a Blu Ray drive.

What Dead Island has taught me

Recently Kris D., Smitty D, Kris D's wife, and I have been playing some Co-op Dead Island and have been chopping off and jumping on some zombie heads.

1. Stomp the yard.. and the head. One of the fastest and most cost effective killing in Dead Island is stomping the head of a knocked down zombie. Its hard to keep 4+ zombies down yourself while trying to stomp there heads in. This is where grouping with a friend comes in handy When with friends try to dedicate someone to fly kick your zombies down with another to stomp them down.

2. Energy drinks are healthier then apples. Simply put, energy drinks give you a bar and half of life, apples(fruit) only give 1 bar if lucky. So just remember an apple a day may keep the doctor away, but an energy drink an hour will give you more power.

3. Smothering something on your blade that can make even a zombie puke is a good thing. I don't know exactly what is in the Toxic mod, but it can make even the toughest of zombies bend over and put their hair up like a college freshman after a night of intense beer pong. P.s. college freshman, if you want a real game? Try taking a shot/swig whatever, every time the F word is used while watching Boon Dock Saints. The winner is the one not suffering from alcohol poisoning at the end of the movie.

4. Hell hath no Fury like a woman's scorn... especially if she is Yakuza. Fury is perhaps the most forgotten tool while playing Dead Island. Be responsible, use it wisely, but for the love of saint peter at least use it!

5. Diamonds are Not a woman's best friend, that would be Brand Champagne. If you get Brand Champagne, it goes to the women at the end of the docks... your welcome.
